i just can't stand to study anymore. I tried today and it was no use. I am ready for summer.
The department picnic was fun. It turned out they got enough beer for all. But it was BAD beer, Red Dog in cans! No Miami prof would be caught dead drinking such garbage. If it wasn't german there- it wasn't worth drinking.

The paper is done and turned in. Now I only have homeworks and finals to complete. I almost miss the paper already.
Tonight there is a picnic for the econ department. Supposedly a case of beer is suppose to last for about 40 people! Is this possible? I hope they are big bottles. oh no- bottles are not allowed. Can beer it is then. Well I hope they are those euro cans.
Oh how I miss Europe...$BlogItemBody$>

Have you ever givenb up smoking. I have and have been smoke free since December. But ya know what. I want a cigarette. I have decided I will hold off until I go to Europe in December. That was always the goal when I quit. But do you think I have a problem when I start to plan a trip to Paris this summer in hopes that I can smoke then.$BlogItemBody$>

Another quiet Friday night at home alone. We discovered today Kurbis has a big abscess on his tail. After a visit to the vet and 150 bucks later, he has no hair on his tail and antibiotics in his system. The poor guy also needs his tail "squeezed" three times a day with a hot rag for 10 minutes. I did about 10 seconds before he bolted under a bed.
An tech related front I wrote an Applescript tonight that when activated connects the imac to the powerbook and opens up iTunes so it can stream the songs to the stereo. $BlogItemBody$>

I must make a comment about how cool technology is. What I am about to describe is possible with a Mac. It may be possible with a Windows machine, but no doubt it would be difficult. I know very little about computers but it is all possible with a Mac.
i am sitting on a chair in the livingroom with my Powerbook on my lap listening to REM on the sterio. The cool part is where the music is coming from. the actual music is on the Powerbook. But the sterio is not connected by any wires to the laptop. Instead It is connected to the iMac across the room by a small cord. The iMac in turn is running a program called iTunes that plays audio files like those on a CD or MP3's. but rather than having the music on its hard drive it is "sucking" the music from my lap top across thr room over a wireless network called Airport. plus from the lap top I can control iTunes and switch from REM to say Indigo Girls as I just did.
It really is amazing. I have over 1800 songs or 5 days worth on this litle computer which is less than an inch thick god bless Steve.. $BlogItemBody$>

I recently had a very funny experience. I was in a room where a conversation was going on about a fellow student who just cut his hair short after having it very long for quite some time. When asked why he cut it by another male student- Bert we will call him, joked that he had it cut to impress/attract the other student, we will call him Theo.
Banter ensued about who was or was not attracted to whom. It was all in good fun as men typically like to make references to each other's sexuality. The exchange was not offensive at all- however it was not original either so I fanged a laugh and left the room.
Well Bert later approaches me and apologizes, saying he hoped he had not offended me. It was all I could do not to break out laughing.$BlogItemBody$>

Yesterday was a fantastic day. First after having lost all my old emails and journal- they were found. You see I am the exact opposite of a pack rat. I throw stuff away all the time and later find I perhaps should not have done that. This is what had happened with the journals. I did this for both the files on my computer and the CD backup- not the same day of course. Well yesterday- I found the CD. I had thrown it in a box to be discarded. But had not yet discarded the box. So I once again have all those precious emails from John circa 1993.
The second great part of the day was a trip to Phoenix. You see Staci and I needed to take back our wedding dishes. No we are not getting a divorce yet. We had only gotten 4 place settings and when we went to get more we found the dishes and flatware had been discontinued. Well the nice Lorain at the Pottery Barn in Chandler told Staci we could return the dishes and flatware and get new stuff. So thats what we did. After hours of indecision- we went with the Luna flatware and Texture china. We had breakfast on them this morning. Oh and we got 8 settings this time so stop in for dinner- we have the plates. Now if only we had a table...
Almost forgot the trip to the Apple Store, which is right next to the Pottery Barn. Oh and we also went to the Crate & Barrel and Tiffany. What a day. And if I had not seen enough Mac's in the Apple Store- they have them on the furniture in the Crate & Barrel and P. Barn. Can't say that I saw any Windows machines there though. They are best left to be displayed at Particle-board City Furniture arent they.

I have a question for my readers with children or who would one day like children. Would spending a dollar on your child bring you as much, less, or more happiness than spending it on yourself. This issue is coming up in some research I would like to do. So drop a comment and let me know.$BlogItemBody$>
