I have made some minor changes to the web site. Regular viewers will notice that when scrolling to the left the buttons on the button bar do not scroll also. Hopefully this will make navagation a bit easier. I have also changed the econ section a bit.
In other news I saw Les Miserables this week. Is it just me or is that show boring?

I have been putting up pictures from Senegal when we took the car ride to the beach. At the time it was terrible. We got stuck in a small village for 6 hours waiting for the car to get fixed. Then we took 4 hours to make a 1 hour trip in a bread truck. We didn't arrive at the beach town until midnight.
At the time I was a wreck as anyone who knows me can imagine. But as I put up the pictures I realise Beth was right. It makes a great story- and now all I really feel is the good times that followed.
I hope Chuck will accept my applogy for any piercing looks I may have given her that day.

The surgeries interupted my blogging about GRADES and the GRADES pictures. All are up now, but I wanted to post one more picture of the thank you stuff we got from Pape and the kids.

In all the excitement of this week. I also got the good news that I received a grant for $4500. The money will be used to enter some historical data on the retail industry from the 1920's and 30's. Know anyone that can type fast and cheap?

In other news, Kurbis had to have an abscess operated on. yes, another surgery. And his cost me 500 bucks. Lets hope Staci didn't cost that much. Stay tuned for pictures of him.

Staci had her appendix out Sunday night.
She went in Sunday afternoon complaining of tummy pains. After a long wait in the emergency room and some time for tests they diagnosed the problem and had the little sucker out by midnight. She is recovering at UMC in Tucson and should be home tomorrow night.

One great part of our visit to Senegal was seeing the work that Pape is doing with GRADES. They teach women to sew, while at the same time watching their children so they can learn and work. All of you who generously donated to GRADES, this brochure really belongs to you. Thanks!

This is even better than the other one. The guy who makes these is a genius.

There are one thousand reasons I love Staci. But I just need to mention one. She sings the Buffy Musical Episode with me- and knows nearly all the words.
Mind you- she is not a Buffy fan, but saw I was interested and tryed it out.
thats a great friend.

So I heard a story about a famous celebrety that requires their dressing room be furnished with Cinamon Altoids on Even days and Wintergreen on odds. Is this to much to ask?
If you were a famous performer, what would you request?

Staci and I occasionally get into disputes over whether humans should be in space. She makes some good points which can be summarized in the observation that we are screwing up this planet- why should be be allowed to go out and screw up others. However I believe the two- exploration and destruction are separate. There was no reason Columbus had to enslave and kill those he encountered in the new world. There was no reason that american frontier peoples had to fight kill and throw out the native americans. It is in our nature to explore. The lessons, information and knowledge we gain from it can not be meassured. We need to learn to accept and live within the cultures, environments, and resources of the new places we explore. We needn't stop exploration. Such a goal would never work. It would be like asking us to stop breathing.
So today, a sad day in exploration, a would like to wish god speed to those who bodly go where no one has gone before.
