Mom had a good idea the other day. We were talking about the election and how it frustrates both of us that the President gets to spend the last year or so of his presidency campaigning for the next round. Using his paycheck from us to take time to campaign for himself. AND, everyone knows the incumbent has a big advantage anyway (can host fundraising dinners in White House, etc.)
So, my Mom said (as if she had thought this for years) that a presidential term needs to be 6 years, with no chance of re-election. Bam. 6 years. You're done. You don't get more.
This way the playing field is much better. Both candidates are "new comers" to the White House. The current Pres. actually has to do his job instead of gallavanting around the country on a campaign trail.
What do you think? 6 years? What if the person was awful (ie: Bush?) Would you be able to handle another 2 years of Bush if it guaranteed never having to have him in office again?
