I Love America
$BlogItemTitle$>
Really I do. Not because of some patriotism. Instead I love the drama of our country. Case in point of course... The powers that be complain about how gay marriage will erode the fabric of marriage instelf. Bush talks of compassionate conservatism. What no one points out is that his catch phrase ackowledges that conservatism itself is incompassionate.
Amnyhow. I liked this story.
ONTARIO, Calif. - A 14-year-old student was expelled from a Christian school because her parents are lesbians, the school's superintendent said in a letter. Shay Clark was expelled from Ontario Christian School on Thursday.
"Your family does not meet the policies of admission," Superintendent Leonard Stob wrote to Tina Clark, the girl's biological mother.
Stob wrote that school policy requires that at least one parent may not engage in practices "immoral or inconsistent with a positive Christian life style, such as cohabitating without marriage or in a homosexual relationship," The Los Angeles Times reported in Friday's edition.
Stob could not be reached for comment by the newspaper. Shay and her parents said they won't fight the ruling.
School administrators learned of the parents' relationship this week after Shay was reprimanded for talking to the crowd during a football game, Tina Clark said.
Clark and her partner have been together 22 years and have two other daughters, ages 9 and 19.
22 Years..... Yeah that is really going to bring down the standards of marriage in America. |

Baby Names

I know I have mentioned this link to people before, however I got distracted by it again recently and thought I would share again.
For those unfamilar its a little web program that will show you the frequency certain names were used in the United States as far back as 1890 and as recently as 2003.
Seeing the patterns and when certain names were popular or even when certain first letters were popular is really cool. |

Misc. Thoughts

I have been meaning to post some random thoughts and I finally was pushed to do so with this quote from Senator Stevens from Alaska: "This is the largest disaster in the history of the United States, over an area twice the size of Europe," Stevens said. "People have to understand this is a big, big problem." Ok jack ass idiot republican... The states of LA MS and AL were affected. Not the entire state but lets imagine they were. Together they are smaller than France. And he says TWIICE THE SIZE OF EUROPE!!!! How do these people get thru life.
Ok new thought or comment that's kind of funny. Was watching old Seinfeld the other night. In one episode to be Mayor Juliani's blood gets contaminated with high fat yogourt in a lab while Krammer is having sex with a technitian. The test shows he has cholesterol of 375. The public feels bad for reasons too long to go into here and he wins the election. Of course it turns out it was a mistake. The funny thing is I just got back my cholesterol reading last week and it was 377. Perhaps I should run for public office.
Finally comment: had dinner party last week. Two people who RSVPed did not show. They called another guest and told him an hour or so before party started. This was a small affair of 7 people and I spent 200 bucks on food. Is it me or is it rude these people did not show? |
